The People Behind the Fleet: Why Technicians Are Critical to Fleet Reliability

When you think about what keeps a fleet moving, it’s easy to picture the trucks, trailers, drivers, and logistics teams responsible for getting freight from point A to point B. But behind every reliable piece of equipment is a team of skilled technicians working to keep it road-ready.

Technicians play a critical role in fleet reliability. From routine maintenance and inspections to diagnosing issues and handling unexpected repairs, their work helps minimize downtime, extend equipment life, and keep businesses moving.

As we celebrate National Technician Appreciation Week, we’re recognizing the people behind the scenes who help keep the transportation industry running.

Keeping Equipment Road-Ready

Preventative maintenance is one of the most important parts of fleet reliability. Small issues can quickly become larger problems when they go unnoticed, potentially resulting in unexpected repairs, equipment downtime, or disruptions to a customer’s operation.

Technicians help identify and address these issues before they become bigger problems. Through regular inspections, maintenance, and repairs, they help ensure equipment is operating properly and ready for the road.

Minimizing Downtime and Supporting Safety

For fleets, downtime can have a ripple effect. An unavailable trailer can impact a driver’s schedule, delay a delivery, and disrupt a customer’s operation. Having skilled technicians available to quickly diagnose and resolve equipment issues is essential to maintaining uptime.

Their work is also critical to safety. By inspecting and maintaining components such as brakes, tires, lighting, and suspension, technicians help ensure equipment is operating safely for drivers and everyone sharing the road.

More Than Maintenance

A technician’s role goes far beyond repairs. Today’s technicians bring technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail to increasingly complex equipment and systems. They also play an important role in the customer experience, working to resolve issues and get equipment back in service as quickly as possible.

TEN’s technicians are an essential part of the value we provide our customers. Through TEN Care, our teams support customers with preventative maintenance, repairs, and emergency roadside service with the goal of keeping equipment reliable and minimizing disruptions.

Behind every inspection, repair, and roadside response is a technician bringing experience, expertise, and dedication to the job.

This National Technician Appreciation Week, we’re proud to recognize the people who help keep TEN, and our customers, moving forward.

To all of our technicians: thank you for the work you do every day to keep fleets safe, reliable, and ready for the road.
