TIP Trailer Services, a portfolio company of I Squared Capital and one of the leading trailer leasing, rental, maintenance and repair providers across Europe and Canada, completed the merger of its Canadian divisions Train Trailer Rentals and Trailer Wizards Ltd. on December 30, 2020. The Canadian division of trailer fleet solutions has formed a newly combined entity named TIP Fleet Services Canada Ltd., running the day to day business as TIP Canada effective January 1, 2021. National headquarters and corporate functions will operate out of the current Mississauga, Ontario location at 1880 Britannia Road East.
With this merger, TIP has integrated Trailer Wizards with its existing Canadian business, Train Trailer Rentals. This puts TIP in a strong position for long-term growth as it further strengthens its position in the Canadian market. The completed merger diversifies both the geographic footprint across Canada with the expansion of operations to new provinces and the service segment with more specialized trailers. The TIP Canada combination creates an unparalleled portfolio of powerful commercial trailer fleet solutions coast to coast.
“We are thrilled about the opportunities this merger will create for our customers worldwide, as well as our employees and business partners.” said Bob Fast, President and CEO of TIP Trailer Services. “Over the past years, we have transformed TIP into one of the most efficient and reliable commercial trailer leasing, rental and maintenance companies in the world while reinvesting behind our brand and continuing our relentless commitment to quality and innovation.”
TIP Canada has a fleet of over 31,000 trailers, reefers, chassis and flatbed or drop-deck configurations. The business employs over 500 people, including approximately 300 mechanics, throughout locations in Canada from Prince Edward Island to British Columbia.
In 2020, the TIP team executed a rigorous integration plan that combined the two legacies in the Canadian commercial trailer industry creating one future as TIP Canada. Under the same leadership, they continue to implement a seamless transition for customers, with existing contracts, services, terms and conditions remaining in place at the now TIP Canada business.
Rick Kloepfer, President, TIP Canada said, “With the successful merger of our two customer focused companies, we are creating a strong platform for the Canadian business. We are extremely proud of our team who have worked tirelessly throughout a challenging year to complete the work leading to this result. We look forward to serving our customers as TIP Canada with the best in class experience of trailer fleet solutions.
